Where can I go swimming in Cleveland? Pools open for summer 2023

CLEVELAND — Grab your bathing suit and slide into those flip-flops because swimming season has officially returned to Northeast Ohio with pools across the city of Cleveland set to open this weekend.

City officials note, however, that a shortage of lifeguards "has greatly impacted day-to-day operations and requires creative scheduling to ensure all Clevelanders can enjoy their local pool."

So when you can jump in and make a splash at your local pool? Here's the 2023 season schedule for the city of Cleveland (NOTE: Officials say daily changes to staffing levels may alter pool schedules)...

Dates: All 20 of Cleveland's outdoor swimming pools will be open Wednesday through Sunday from Saturday, June 10, through Sunday, Aug. 6. All outdoor pools will remain closed on Mondays and Tuesdays regardless of temperatures.

"Depending on the number of seasonal lifeguards available to stay on, the city may extend the summer pool season through Sunday, Aug. 20," according to a press release. "Alternatively, remaining seasonal lifeguards will be placed at select pools throughout the city of Cleveland to provide pool service through Aug. 20."

Hours: Normal hours of operation are 12 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.

Rules: Each outdoor pool will have 45-minute sessions "to maximize customer usage." All swimmers must leave the pool at the conclusion of each session, but are permitted to check back in for re-entry. Customers must line up for each session.

Security will also be on site at all outdoor pools from open to close on each day of operation.

Dates: Open three days a week from Monday, June 12, through Friday, Aug. 18.

Hours: 12 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.

Rules: Each indoor pool will operate 45-minute sessions "to maximize customer usage." All swimmers must leave the pool at the conclusion of each session, but are permitted to check back in for re-entry. Customers must line up for each session.Indoor pools will resume normal operations Monday through Friday (11:30 a.m. – 8 p.m.) and Saturdays (9:30 a.m. – 6 p.m.) the week of August 21, 2023.
